Polar Bear Plunge活动是由警察局主办的旨在为参加特殊运动会的运动员募集资金的一个公益活动，该活动已举办多年，影响很广。 主办方在严冬中砸开湖面，参加者跳入水中，为Special Olympic Alberta募捐，以支持阿省143个社区的3,300名残疾奥林匹克运动员，让他们也能体会到体育带给正常人的快乐。 爱城冰湖跳已经于1月28日举行。卡城冰湖跳于二月24日周六于卡城Arbour Lake举行。 超过160名选手报名冰湖跳，11:15开始第一组，华人代表队在第13组，12:15跳。  卡城冰湖跳华人四勇士：左起@马敬俨1726，@Jerry1765 CSIA 教练@蛋蛋2241 和Tony Li 1204，其中Tony Li来自爱城，也参加了1月28日的爱城冰湖跳。  感谢林钧(左二)、@加拿大鹿茸Frank 和很多爱城华人朋友现场助威。  @马敬俨1726在水中有60秒了吗？可以和爱城@Frank Chen 媲美了。 下面是Calgary Herald的报道和视频。 It may be Calgary’s coldest February in nearly a quarter century, but that wasn’t enough to put a chill into those plunging into sub-zero water to raise money for Special Olympics athletes Saturday. More than 160 brave souls plunged into the icy depths of Arbour Lake in the city’s northwest for Calgary’s sixth annual Polar Plunge for the Special Olympics, hosted by the Law Enforcement Torch Run. The frozen few who made the plunge on Saturday helped raise more than $30,000 for the cause, which organizers hope will help eclipse the $167,000 raised from similar events across Alberta last year. Thomas Cleal, one of the Calgary event’s organizers, said the local torch run charity swiped the idea of an icy dip to raise cash from fellow law enforcement officials on the balmier side of the Canada-U.S. border. “There’s chapters all over the world, and a lot of neighbours to the south are doing it and we thought it’d be a good idea,” he said. “Obviously, in Canada we have a lot of ice, we have a lot of cold water, so we figured why not give it a try ourselves — this is now our sixth one in Calgary so it’s been one of our greatest events.” Cleal noted all proceeds from the Calgary plunge go directly to local Special Olympians, helping cover the costs of travel to competitions, uniforms, equipment and training. Across Alberta, funds from five such events will aid some 3,300 athletes. Calgary Stampeders star linebacker Alex Singleton said he prepared for the bone-chilling handful of seconds immersed in Arbour Lake. “It’s just a nice spa day. Cold showers for a month, I walk barefoot outside in the morning for 10 minutes. It’s full preparation,” said the CFL’s most outstanding defensive player for 2017. “Just to have the money coming in and the donations from 160-plus not very bright people jumping in the cold water — it’s a great cause and a great reason to have some fun.” Joining Singleton in the lake were several Calgary police officers, Alberta sheriffs, Mounties, as well as officers from the Tsuut’ina Nation police, Calgary Young Offenders Centre and Calgary Community Standards.
