Celebrate the blues, a dog show, and the best and worst of internet comments
Calgary's longest standing choir is offering sneak-peek performances of its New York City repertoire this weekend. (Revv52) It's that time again — time to put the worries and troubles of your week aside and start planning your weekend. Here are five upcoming highlights from the Homestretch's Tracy Fuller.1. Life, Death and the BluesIt's a show that's part play, part concert, part biography and all blues. Life, Death and the Blues, part of the month-long theatrical extravaganza that is the High Performance Rodeo, sets out in search for the meaning, power and passion of the blues. When: Runs until Jan. 31 at the Martha Cohen Theatre 2. WeeTubeEver scroll through the comments section just for fun? WeeTube explores the comments on a curated selection of YouTube videos to highlight some of the best and the worst that internet public discourse has to offer. The performance is hosted by James Long and Maiko Bae Yamamoto of Theatre Replacement and is part of the 30th anniversary of the High Performance Rodeo. A word of warning: there is profanity in the show, and it's a late one. When: Jan. 22 and 23, beginning at 10 p.m. at Royal Canadian Legion Number One. 3. Alberta Kennel Club's 2016 Winter ClassicDog lovers are in for a treat this weekend. The Alberta Kennel Club's 2016 Winter Classic brings together people from across the province to watch and participate in a series of all-breed championship dog shows, obedience trials, and associated specialty shows. When: Jan. 22 through 24 at Spruce Meadows' Equi-Plex 4. Revv52Calgary's longest running choir, Revv52, is on its way to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall. Before they do that, they are giving four sneak-peek performances of their Big Apple repertoire here in Calgary. Kananaskis Country Snowshoeing
Kananaskis Country offers a wealth of marked trails and backcountry territory for snowshoeing beginners, intermediates, and experts alike.
