Calgary man arrested after police seize huge caches of stolen property

One man was arrested after a huge haul of stolen goods was seized by police officers executing search warrants on storage facilities. and a home in southeast Calgary. Police released this video showing the seizure of some of the stolen goods. More than $1.5 million worth of stolen goods, ranging from clothes to beauty products to industrial appliances, have been seized by police after searches of three storage facilities and a house in southeast Calgary. The investigation, which police call “lengthy”, resulted in the arrest of one man, Cody William Scott, 28, who is in custody, facing several charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000. Police say much of the property was in brand new packaging from various retail businesses around Calgary. Half of the property was stolen over about 18 months, police said, with the remainder acquired through “organized retail crime”. The goods were found in four locations: • A house, detached garage and vehicle in the 0 to 100 block of Prestwick Manor S.E. • A storage facility in the 4000 block of 116 Ave. S.E. • A storage facility in the 11000 block of 40 St. S.E. • A storage facility in the 4000 block of Barlow Tr. S.E. Police are holding a news conference Thursday afternoon to provide further details on the investigation.
