Officer opened fire on fleeing vehicle after it struck his cruiser
An RCMP officer discharged his weapon at a Honda Civic on Monday, after the car rammed his cruiser. (CBC ) Three people are in custody in Lethbridge after ramming a police car on Monday. According to police, an RCMP officer saw a Honda Civic commit an unspecified traffic offence around 11:30 a.m. and tried to initiate a traffic stop. The Honda continued to drive down Highway 3 with police following and eventually turned into the yard of a construction company. The officer blocked the exit and the Civic turned toward the cruiser and drove into the passenger side hard enough to move it sideways, according to police. After the collision, the officer got out of his car, pulled his weapon and fired at the fleeing Civic. Police says the Honda was eventually stopped on Highway 3 with the use of a spike belt. All three occupants of the car were arrested. No one was injured and the investigation continues. |
