The body of two-year-old Chase Martens has been located, RCMP say.

The toddler had gone missing from his family's farm home near Austin, Man., about 120 kilometres west of Winnipeg, on Tuesday evening.

Destiny Turner, left, and Thomas Martens issued a public plea on Thursday for any information that could bring home their two-year-old son, Chase (right image). The boy's body was found on Saturday, RCMP say. (CBC/RCMP)

Hundreds of volunteers have helped RCMP and search-and-rescue crews over the past few days as they combed a four-kilometre radius from the location where Martens was last seen.

RCMP tweeted at around 2:45 p.m. CT that Martens's body had been found earlier in the day. Police have not specified when or where the body was located.

Police are expected to speak with media at 5:30 p.m. CT (6:30 p.m. ET). CBC will be live streaming the news conference here.

More than 500 volunteers had joined the daylong search for Martens on Friday, scouring farm fields and wooded areas.

"The community support has been incredible," RCMP spokesperson Robert Cyrene said in a statement earlier Saturday.

RCMP had been using surveillance drones to map out the search area and look for clues since Thursday. Dive teams searched in streams, ditches and ponds on Thursday and were back in the area Saturday.

Temperatures had fallen below 0 C each night since Martens went missing.

His parents, Thomas Martens and Destiny Turner, issued an emotional public plea on Thursday for any information that could help bring their son home.
