Ed Kaiser/Postmedia Homicide detectives are investigating the second suspicious death in a week after officers were called to a northeast apartment where the body of a female was found. At 10 p.m. Monday, city police spokeswoman Cheryl Sheppard said homicide detectives were called out to the “scene of a deceased female in a suite” near 162 Avenue and 51 Street. Monday’s suspicious death follows the suspicious death of a 52-year-old man found last Tuesday in an apartment suite at 101 Avenue and 153 Street. An autopsy in that case was conducted Wednesday but officers continue to investigate it as suspicious. Officers responding to the Tuesday call around 12:30 p.m. found the man dead inside the suite at Canora Place, a 30-unit building which opened in 2011 to house previously homeless Edmontonians. There have been eight confirmed Edmonton homicides so far this year. |
