Calgary police charge 2 men for weekend kidnapping at gunpoint

Victim managed to call police after being tied up and held against his will for hours Calgary police have charged two cousins over a kidnapping at gunpoint over the weekend. Around 6:30 Saturday morning, police were called by the victim who said he was driving away from two men who had kidnapped him earlier that morning. Police believe he was forced into a home on Pinewood Drive S.E. in Forest Lawn where he was assaulted and his hands and feet were tied up. Later that morning he was able to get away in a vehicle. The suspects chased him a short distance, but when police arrived a short time later they managed to flee. Police don't believe the incident was random and that it was spurred by a dispute. Ahmad Feraidoon Safari, 19, is charged with kidnapping, assault, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, uttering threats and three counts of being unlawfully at large. Zharif Safari, 18, is charged with kidnapping, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement. The cousins are both from Calgary, and are scheduled to appear in court Thursday. |
