爱城Long overdue Walterdale Bridge to open in September

 The Walterdale Bridge is supposed to open to traffic in September, nearly two years past its expected completion date. Adam Laughlin, deputy city manager of integrated infrastructure, on site Thursday for a media availability, said based on the contractors' latest schedule, the main portion of the bridge will be open in September, barring any more major weather delays. But Laughlin added he's "wary about giving a specific date." The multi-use path which hangs off the east side of the new bridge, unique from any other bridge in the world, should open a few months later, he said. Laughlin stressed the $155-million bridge is on budget and expected to finish on budget, despite the many delays. The bridge is at a point which it is structurally complete, minus some minor welding to the multi-use path. |
